Nike Mercurial Vapor IV

The Nike Mercurial Vapor 4 football boots were released in 2008 but are still at the forefront of football boot innovation. They incorporate carbon fibre into the sole to decrease the weight but still maintain adequate strength and the lace cover creates a clean striking zone for increased control. The microfiber synthetic upper is light weight, strong and moulds to the shape of your foot for increased control. All this combined with the patented stud configuration for increased traction makes for one incredible boot.

This boot in practical use lives up to its name of being a speed, as it weighs only 225 grams. The synthetic upper provides good ball feel that various other speed boots lake. The lace cover works well to create a clean striking zone and the studs create sufficient traction in all conditions. Where these boots lake is comfort. To keep the weight down to a bare minimum, Nike reduced the amount of padding in the sole. This creates minor discomfort over prolonged time spans. The design can also create blisters on the users heels, which can be prevented by the use of extra socks but it cannot be overlooked.

Overall a high quality boot that not only looks good but also performs well. There are many positives to this boot but the comfort aspect really lets it down. I would recommend this boot to anyone thinking of purchasing a high end and light boot. I rate this 4/5 stars.

Positives:
+Looks great
+Light weight
+Brilliant traction
+Exceptional ball feel

Negatives:
